Join us for a nature walk with our friend and tree expert Dylan Block-Harley!
We’ll learn how to identify different trees in our landscape, especially different types of MAPLES.
This is part 1 of a new program we’re so excited to launch - community maple boil!
Community Maple Boil
This winter we’ll launch Community Maple Boil, a new tradition at Osamequin Farm! Each year we tap a dozen or so maple trees on the farm to boil into our own syrup, and this year we’re excited to invite you to join us.
Come on the tree ID walk on Oct 10th to learn how to identify the maples around your home.
In a few months, we’ll come together again to learn how to tap trees.
And then, we’ll invite you to bring to the farm the sap you gathered at home to boil it all together into a communal batch of local maple syrup!
Everyone who contributes sap will go home with a share of the syrup. Those who aren’t able to tap trees at home are still welcome to join on the boiling days, and will have an opportunity to purchase fresh syrup to take home.
Tree ID walk is open to anyone, not only for folks who want to participate in the maple project! It’s a great time of year for a walk in the woods, so join us on October 10th!
