Farmer-Educator
Osamequin Farm seeks an experienced Farmer-Educator to execute our land based educational programming in 2025, including:
a youth-led youth training program for 12-18 year olds
a 1-week camp for elementary school children
field trips and group visits for children and adult groups
beginning gardener workshops in our Harvest Garden
working with GardenTimeβs Green Reentry Training Program
The Farmer-Educator will be responsible for managing the garden plots used for educational purposes outside of teaching days. Tasks will include preparing beds, planting, weeding, trellising, mulching, harvesting, and processing according to an established crop plan and harvest goals. The Farmer-Educator will be responsible for coordinating pickup and/or delivery of produce donated to food rescue organizations as well as coordinating the weekly share for our small CSA.
Administrative responsibilities related to farm management and educational programming will be included, such as documenting curriculum development and tracking data from programs, coordinating produce donations, communicating with program participants and partners, and helping to build new connections in the community.
Details:
Flexible start date mid-March to mid-April. This is a majority full time position with tapered hours in the spring and late fall. Some weekend availability is required. Compensation will be $22/hr paid biweekly.
This position as described is for the 2025 calendar year, with sincere hopes that the candidate chosen will stay on for future years pending a positive experience for both parties. For a returning candidate, there would be opportunity for year-round employment with seasonally reduced hours in the winter.

Land Stewardship Coordinator
Osamequin Farm seeks an enthusiastic land stewardship coordinator who will serve in a newly-designed role to manage care of the forest, farmland, infrastructure, and facilities.
Primary responsibilities include:
Management of the Resident Farmer program, including regular meetings with our leasing farmers individually and in groups, helping farmers troubleshoot issues in their fields, responding to requests for tractor work or other maintenance tasks.
Infrastructure management, including coordinating or conducting repairs and improvements in our greenhouse, wash/pack facility, cold storage unit, and more.
Working with the Director in alignment with the Strategic Plan to develop a holistic vision for the land, to be executed over the next 5-10 years.
Coordinating and managing volunteer groups to tackle special projects, including trail work, small building projects, and others according to interest and experience.
Working with NRCS and our Conservation Agents to ensure Osamequin Farm is operating in line with all of its land stewardship expectations.
Regular maintenance of crop field edges and other shared spaces.
Fostering existing community partnerships and establishing new relationships as they arise.
This role is predominantly physical with expectations of operating and maintaining farm equipment, executing construction tasks, mowing and weed whacking, troubleshooting irrigation and other farm systems, and working alongside volunteers on projects around the farm.
Administrative responsibilities will also be expected, including but not limited to: diligent record keeping and note taking, coordinating with volunteers and community partners, and reporting to the board of directors.
