Sliding scale $50 - $150 per participant
Limited to 12 teen or adult participants.
Children under 12 may join you to help out at no cost!
In this tremendously hands-on workshop, we will learn and work through the foundations of natural building as we create a functional 36” diameter cob oven at Osamequin Farm.
Day 1 (full day)
Introduction to natural building methods and materials
Mixing of the materials
Building the sand form
Applying layer 1 of insulation plaster
Day 2 (half day)
Mix and pigment clay finish plaster
Apply finish plaster coat
Remove sand form
Fire oven to cure
Build covering structure
Participants should bring a picnic lunch. We will provide refreshments and snacks to keep you going!
This is outdoors, and MESSY! Cob is best mixed on a tarp with your bare feet.
Dress for the task at hand (your clothes will get dirty) and come ready to work together as a team to build our oven, and go home with the skills to build your own!
