We are throwing a natural dye party!
This is your chance to gather with like-minded creatives and play with color on the farm.

LOGISTICS
1 ticket to the DYE PARTY is $25 and includes 1 pre-mordanted ready to dye cotton bandana (22x22”). You can choose to dye your bandana at any of the available stations - classic vat dye, shibori vat dye, bundle dyed, hapazome (flower pounding), fresh leaf indigo…
Additional pre-mordanted ready to dye bandanas and tote bags will be available for purchase at the event. If you’d like to bring your own items to dye, see below.
Anyone is invited to attend the dye party,
whether you have experience with natural dyeing or not,
and whether you plan to create or just be part of the experience!
The farm will be open for foraging if you’re interested in gathering found materials to use in your project.
DYEING YOUR OWN ITEMS
In order to hold on to natural dye and be lasting and light-fast, fibers require special pre-treatment that begins with scouring and is followed by a mordant process specific to the type of fiber (cotton, wool, silk, etc). Synthetic fibers are not recommended for natural dyeing.
The dyeable materials we’ll offer at the event have gone through this treatment process.
IF you have something you want to dye and you’d like to bring it to the event, you need to email Sarah@osamequinfarm.com and let her know what the item is, how much it weighs in grams, and what material it’s made of.
We will then do our best to coordinate getting you the appropriate mordant and prep instructions to do on your own at home before the event. We will not be doing any mordanting of personal items at the event.
